What Is Xcel?

Xcel is a USA Gymnastics competitive program designed to offer a broad-based, affordable competitive experience outside the traditional Compulsory and Optional pathway. It keeps gymnasts involved, motivated and excited about the sport — and TEG offers all six divisions, from Bronze through Sapphire.

Who Can Join?

Gymnasts ages 5 and up — whether they come from our recreational classes, our pre-team or Compulsory program, or from another gym. Placement is by evaluation, so every athlete starts at the division where she can succeed.

Why Families Choose Xcel

• Compete sooner. Athletes compete as soon as they join an Xcel team — no waiting for an invitation.
• Personalized routines. Routines are built around each gymnast’s strengths, age and personality — including floor music she helps choose.
• Less time in the gym. Athletes can learn competitive skills with a lighter training schedule than Compulsory levels require.
• Specialize if you want. Gymnasts aren’t required to compete all four events — they can focus on one or two.

Coached by Experience

Our Xcel Silver and Gold teams are led by Coach Katherine Lulow, who brings 14 years of Compulsory and Xcel coaching experience. Families appreciate her calm, consistent style: clear expectations, positive communication and steady, step-by-step progress. All team programs are overseen by Competitive Program Manager Lisa Collins.
